Spectacular Sightings

This is the Cologne Cathedral, or the Dom as they call it here in Germany.

DAY DOM 1 retry

Words cannot describe how impressive and remarkable the architecture is. Construction started in the 1200s and took hundreds of years to complete. It is the largest Gothic Church in Northern Europe and second tallest in the world.

DAY DOM 4

The height of the tower is 475 feet, and we climbed the entire 533 steps to view the city from the highest point possible.

dom 2 day

I could stare at this church all day long. Every single inch was covered with such elaborate detail,  it was just remarkable.

DAY dom 2

Here I am standing at the main front entrance, as you can see, everything about this church is nothing short of massive.

This Cathedral is still a running Roman Catholic Church. Can you imagine waking up  and sitting in one of these pews every Sunday!?

The inside of the Cathedral was filled with stained glass windows, paintings, statues, and art. I took hundreds of pictures, and we spent hours just walking viewing all the beautiful pieces of history.

This is my absolutely favorite piece of architecture in the city center of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is the Scott Monument, built in honor of Sir Walter Scott, a Scottish novelist. It was completed in 1844 and is the largest monument in the world that is dedicated to a writer.
